About Us

The Well Church is a diverse community of believers pursuing Jesus in
Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Focused on experiencing the presence of God and loving people well.

Our culture is one of empowerment, where people are strengthened in their walk with God and encouraged to grow in their gifts and talents. The Well is a shame-free zone where anyone is welcome to come and experience the transforming love of God. Founded by Kathy Wheeler, The Well is a non-denominational church with ministries and home groups focused on experiencing the presence of God and loving people well.

We desire to see people healed* - body, soul and spirit - and for all wounds from the past to be redeemed through Jesus. We believe that people can be restored* to their true identity as a son or a daughter of the Father, regardless of past mistakes or failures. We train* people in their God-given gifts so that they can co-labor with God and the people around them to embrace their unique life purpose. We send* people out into the world to influence every sphere of society with love, wisdom, creativity, and power.

Vision

To build a community where God is exalted, people are celebrated, and the world is revived.

Mission

We believe that many people feel disconnected from God, others, and their purpose in life. We equip people with practical and supernatural tools to live out the Kingdom of God so that the world can see Jesus for who He really is.

Presence

We value, honor, and cherish the Presence of God

Prayer

We can do nothing apart from prayer. “Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it.” Ps. 127:1

Scripture

We hold Scripture as the final authority as it leads us in our everyday lives. We study the Word to know what God says and who He is.

Family

We live in community with one another and need each other to fulfill our destiny

Love

We love Him and others the way He loves us, unconditionally

Honor

We cultivate honor so that God can be glorified in all that we say and do

Humility

We walk with reliance and confidence in the work of the Holy Spirit through our lives

Eternity

We know that heaven and hell are real. All that we do on this earth will impact eternity and we are passionate to see as many people as we can saved.

Generosity

We believe in giving God the best that we have. “For God so loved the world that He gave…” John 3:16

What We Believe

The Bible

We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of God and is applicable to our everyday lives.

The Trinity

We believe the one true eternal God manifests Himself in three persons--Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

The Deity of Jesus Christ

We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, the virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death, His bodily resurrection, His complete conquest over the powers of Satan, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His imminent return.

Salvation

We believe salvation is wholly by grace through faith and cannot be earned by good works.

The Church

We believe the church consists of all those who truly believe in Jesus Christ and in His atoning death, and who trust in Him as their personal Lord and Savior.

The Holy Spirit

We believe in the ongoing, sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit by who's indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a holy life and minister super-naturally.

Baptism of the Holy Spirit

We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit for all believers to be successful witnesses of Jesus. The baptism of the Holy Spirit, according to Acts 1:4-8 and 2:4, is poured out on believers that they might have God’s power to be His witnesses.

The Gifts

We believe that all the gifts of the Holy Spirit are available and operational in the body of Christ today.

Five-Fold Ministry

We believe that the 5-fold ministry of Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers are still active today for the purpose of equipping the body of Christ to be effective ministers of Christ.

Eternity

We believe that heaven and hell are real places. There will be a resurrection of the lost and the saved, the one to everlasting death and the other to everlasting life.
